A day at school

From the door to the pickup line

The day has the same shape in every room, so children know what comes next.

  1. 8:00

    Step 1: Arrival

A guide greets each child at the door. Children hang up their things, change shoes and settle with a book.

  2. 8:15

    Step 2: Morning meeting

The room gathers to share news and hear what lessons are planned for the day.

  3. 8:30

    Step 3: The work cycle

Three quiet hours of chosen work, with lessons from a guide, partner work and snack when a child is hungry.

  4. 11:45

Step 4: Lunch and outdoor time

Children set the tables, eat together and then go outside in all but the worst weather.

  5. 12:45

Step 5: Group lessons and projects

Seminars, art, music and projects that run across several weeks.

  6. 3:15

Step 6: Pickup and extended day

Families collect children from the room. Extended day children go to the snack table and then outdoors.
