Family policies

What families ask before the first day.

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

When to keep your child home

A child with a fever, or who was sick in the night, stays home until the next morning. We call a parent when a child is unwell at school, and the office sends a note when something is going around.

Drop-off and pickup

A guide greets each child at the door in the morning and walks each child to the right car or the pickup line in the afternoon. Only the adults on a family's pickup list may collect a child, and we ask for ID from anyone we don't know.

Absences and late arrival

Families tell the office by 8:00 a.m. when a child will be absent. A child who arrives after the work cycle begins comes in quietly, and a guide helps them join.

Meals, snacks and allergies

Families send lunch, and the school provides a morning snack. Tell us about allergies at the visit; we ask privately once you enroll, and each guide keeps the plan for the children in the room.

What to wear and bring

Children wear clothes they can move, garden and paint in, and keep a pair of indoor shoes at school. Older children bring a water bottle and outdoor clothes for the land.

Screens and phones

Children do not use screens in the day in the lower and upper rooms. Middle school students use a laptop for research and writing in the room, and phones stay in a bag until pickup.

Closures for weather and holidays

The school closes for the holidays on the school calendar, which the office sends each summer. A weather closure is sent by text and email before 6:30 a.m.
